meridianEMR Intelligent Workflow

meridianEMR has designed the ultimate EMR workflow. It supports very advanced features not found in many of the competitive EMR systems.

A single workflow that contains all of the charts that need your attention.

  • Appointments - All of the patients that are on your appointment list.
  • Calls - All of the outstanding calls, ie: Med reactions, Patient Questions, etc.
  • Encounters in Progress - Encounters that you are currently working on.
  • Encounters for Review - Encounters that have been sent to you for Review before Final Closing.
  • Encounters Recovered - Automatic backups of your last encounter in case of power outages.
  • Faxes - All of the inbound faxes that havebeen received.
  • HME (Health Maintenance Explorers) - Health Maintenance Items that are currently due or awaiting followup.
  • Images - Images that have been sent to you for review and signature.
  • Labs - Labs that have been sent you for review and signature.
  • Medication Alerts - Medication Alerts that have been sent from the patient's pharmacy for your review.
  • Medication Refills - Medication Refills that have been sent from the patient's pharmacy for your approval.
  • Orders - Orders that are pending or are completed.
  • Office Mail - Internal mail from another user in the system.
  • Open Charts - All recently accessed charts.

The list of charts in your workflow are organized by category and within each category by date. Items that need your immediate attention are marked with a "Red Flag" and will always appear at the top of the category. These include emergency situations as well as Images and Labs that are marked as Abnormal.

You don't even have to click on an item to view the details. Simply hover (move your mouse over) over a specific item and you will see the notes attached to that item. This allows you to do a quick review to determine which chart needs to be addressed first.

When hovering over the item you can also see the patient's home and work phones, email address, as well as the audit of who in the practice sent the item to you and the audit history or where the chart has been.

What is the generic user concept that meridianEMR has designed into it's workflow?

meridianEMR has pioneered the development of the generic user concept. This provides the ability to send charts to a virtual user to which a number of real users can be attached.

For example, when a patient arrives for an appointment that chart moves from the provider's appointment list to the generic (virtual) nurse. This appointment will then automatically appear in all the real nurse's workflows that are attached to that generic user.

Each of the real nurses can immediately see that the patient arrived. The patient will be displayed in italics which allows the nurse to immediately see the difference between a generic item and one of their real items. When the first available nurse clicks on the patient they immediately take ownership of the chart and it is then unavailable for all the other nurses.

Generic Users - Part of the Intelligent Workflow of meridianEMR.

As an added feature - The Appointment Navigator component of the Intelligent Workflow provides a single click on the patient that arrived. This moves them out of the provider's workflow and into the correct generic workflow automatically. They are displayed as Pending (blue text) with the date and time of their arrival. Less time clicking more time spent with the patient.
